1. What does it mean to you to have been selected as a "Global Leader for Tomorrow"?

People of the world can only begin to deal with the problems and issues that they are faced when they engage themselves in constructive dialogue. Problems and issues will never end, hence the constructive dialogue should be continuous. I consider myself as part of the solution and I welcome any credible opportunity where solutions to the challenges facing the world are sought. I think the World Eonomic Forum represents a wonderful platform for people of divergent cultures and experiences to share their different perspectives whilst remaining united in endeavouring to improving the state of the world they've inherited.

Die besten Jobs von allen

That I have been identified as one of the people of the world who will increasingly be looked upon to provide leadership encourages me to remain a good global citizen. That I have been selected as a "Global Leader for Tomorrow" thrusts me to the frontline of a fight for a better life for all of the people of the world, be they living in the South or in the North, be they African or non-African. I welcome the challenge.

2. You have been selected by the World Economic Forum for what you have already done in your life, "holding positions of considerable power, influence and responsability". What are the 3-5 things you are most proud of?

1. With effect from the 1st of June 2000 I was appointed by the Cabinet of the Republic of South Africa to become Chairman of the board of directors of DENEL (Proprietary) Limited, which is the state-owned defence equipment and systems manufacturer. The combined power of DENEL and that of the South African National Defence Force, among others, define South Africa's capacity to defend itself, militarily speaking.
Not forgeting Apartheid and further remembering that the attainment of democracy in South Africa in 1994 represented the absolute triumph of human spirit, it's defence and consolidation are an absolute must. That I was found ideally suited to be at the helm of DENEL during this early phase of our newly found democracy should demonstrate huge confidence in my leadership capabilities as well as in my patriotic bonafides.

2. In 1997 I founded Sarhwu Investment Holdings Limited ("SIH") which is the business arm of the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union ("SATAWU"). SATAWU is the main trade union in the transport and logistics sector, organises in the ports and harbours, airports, railways and airlines and boasts a registered membership of more than 120,000 workers. During the 3.5 years of my executive leadership of SIH, I grew the company from a seed capital of R500,000 (five hundred thousand rands) to a net asset value in excess of R400 million, I distributed a few millons of Rands back to SATAWU as well as oversaw the distribution of millions of rands worth of shares to individual members of SATAWU.

3. In 2001 I made a personal donation of R20,000 (twenty thousand rands) to my formert school, Vukuzakhe High School. Vukuzakhe is located at Umlazi, which is a township of almost 1.2 million people in the south of Durban. The donation should go a long way towards acquiring computers for usage by matric students, thus providing access to information technology to historically disadvantaged black students.
