Answer from Cambridge:

This is entirely an individual decision. A good percentage of our MBA students each year have already done another masters programme, but it is not a requirement.

The question to ask is this....'How does further study fit into the students overall plan for their career?' If it fits and makes sence, then it is appropriate. There is no extra advantage for an applicant who already has a masters.

We require our students to have at least three years full time wotk experience before they commence their course, most have many more.

Answer from Said Business School:

Hello!

Your son's decision will be dependent upon when he wants to study for the mba - if he wants to do this as soon as possible, he should get management work experience (around two years) prior to taking the mba. If he doesn't mind waiting before he takes the mba, then he could take his master's first.

Work experience is an admissions criterion whereas a master's degree is not. May I ask your son's age?

Best wishes

Answer from Cranfield:

As far as Cranfield is concerned, work experience is much more important and valuable than a postgraduate qualification.

Answer from Ashridge:

Thank you for your enquiry. We, at Ashridge, offer only executive education and our opinion is that work experience is necessary before embarking on an MBA. Participants with work experience have the "pegs" on which to hang the learning experience.

Hope this helps.

Answer from Warwick: Dear Enquirer

Thank you for your interest in the Warwick MBA. We require a minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience for our MBA students and would therefore recommend that your son to gain this work experience as a priority. Whilst a further postgraduate degree or masters would add weight to any MBA application, his work experience would be our main concern.

I trust that this answers your question. Please visit www.wbs.ac.uk for more information.
